WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE A CHEMICAL PEEL?
You should avoid tanning, waxing and exfoliating 1 week before a chemical peel. You should stop all topical treatments three days prior to your peel, this includes prescriptions, topical medications, such as Differin, Tazorac, bleaching creams and retinols. Call us if you have any questions about the products you are using. Also, depending on the type of peel, make sure that you schedule it at least 2 weeks before a major event like a wedding, family pictures, or vacation.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A CHEMICAL PEEL?
When you arrive at Stunning Solutions our professionals will take your health history and then our licensed medical aesthetician will prep and cleanse your skin. After which, your peel will be applied. Depending on the peel that has been selected light to moderate burning may occur. Your skin may be pink to red and you might see white frost on the surface. The redness and frosting will dissipate over the next few hours. Your skin might feel tight and wind burned.
CHEMICAL AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS
FOUR HOURS POST TREATMENT
Leave the Peel solution on for over 4 hours. You may then cleanse the skin. Avoid hot water. Gently pat skin dry.
Avoid all sun exposure
Avoid exercise and sweating for 48 to 72 hours
You may apply moisturizer as needed
DAY 1- 3
Use a gentle cleanser morning and night. Avoid hot water. Gently pat skin dry. Use SPF 50 2-4 times a day even if it's not sunny outside.
During this time your skin may develop red-brown or gray coloration. Skin may feel tight of wind burned. Cracks in the skin may occur.

Depending on the strength of the peel, you may experience mild redness and/or your skin may feel tight as well as mild swelling. Your skin may be red as the skin flakes and peels. It is imperative to NOT peel or pull the skin off, allow the skin to peel at its own pace.
HOW OFTEN CAN I GET A CHEMICAL PEEL?
Chemical peels can be done every 2-4 weeks depending on the peel. For best results chemical peels are recommended to be done in a series. Talk with your medical esthetician to plan out a series that would work for you.
